FolkBeats Talent Search Programme Application

 

Folkbeats Talent Search's call for applications to musical ensembles from within the borders of Hungary and without, with the following conditions:

Folkbeats is advertising a talent search programme for beginner and amateur bands and music ensembles in the categories of authentic Hungarian folk music and world music.

 

Who can Apply:

  • Both soloists and ensembles.
  • It is important for entrants in both the authentic folk music category as well as the world music category to mirror the spirit and musicality of the Carpathian basin, primarily focusing on Hungarian folk music.
  • Ideally we are accepting bands who have not released a CD, however one independently released CD or appearing on a professional compilation CD (e.g. Hagyományok Háza) is still acceptable for application.
  • The applicant cannot be signed to an exclusive contract with a management group either in Hungary or abroad. (The winning applicants will have an opportunity to sign with both the domestic management team as well as the tour organizer in the USA)
  • Professional musicians who submit an application with a new ensemble formation, but have appeared on numerous CD's in the past, will not be allowed to apply.

 

What to send in with your application:

  • Two demo numbers totalling 15 minutes, preferably in mp3 format sent through e-mail, or on a CD by post (mp3, wav). The recording can be professionally made or home-made, just make sure that the quality is satisfactory for listening.
  • A 1500 character biography of the band.
  • Band line-up
  • Contact information
  • Homepage, myspace, video, links,
  • Photo (high resolution - minimum 5 megapixels)

 

Registration dues:

- Registration is valid only with the payment of your 3000 HUF registration fee. The registration fee can be made payable by means of cheque, sent by post to the Folkbeats address, or through the Trottel Records invoice number. In both cases please indicate that it is for: FolkBeats jelentkezés somewhere on the paper. A copy of your proof of payment should then be sent to the following address: FolkBeats, Budapest 1701, Pf. 212.

  • Deadline for registration: November 30, 2010.
  • The music will be uploaded on November 1, 2025 to our homepage and to the port.hu site. Voting starts December 1, 2010.

Your application ensures your band's participation in the pre-selection process that will take place solely on the internet.

If there is an ambiguity in the eligibility of your band, the Folkbeats staff as well the jury will decide.

Folkbeats assumes the right to use, publish, distribute and advertise on our homepage and through third party partnerships, information, pictures and music that is sent to us for the competition.
